Wounddock.com is not just the brainchild of founder Adam Daniels – it began with a problem, a solution, and a vision.
After many years and experiences in the world of treating patients in the field of chronic wound care, he realized that although the American health care system had some of the best specialists, medical devices, and grafting procedures on Earth, something dire was missing- time and clarity. During a recent conversation, he described chronic wound care as having “an invisible gap in health care through the absence of navigation, misrouting, and patient confusion, leading to less than optimal patient outcomes.” He began to notice a disturbing pattern when patients with critical wounds in need of immediate care began to search their symptoms- they were having trouble getting to the right specialists quickly, and that “patient confusion and misrouting at the symptom level” he described was causing critical moments to be lost- moments that could drastically alter a patient’s outcome and future. The solution? To bridge that gap through a website that can get give the patient the information they need immediately and direct them to a specialist within the city they lived, saving them critical moments in a field where every moment counts.
One example he cited is when a patient types in “why is my wound leaking yellow fluid?” He then posited, “What if that same patient could find what is causing that symptom, find the care
they need, and find a doctor or specialist just miles of their home within 60 seconds? Could it save someone’s leg?”
Could it save their life?
That was when he began to construct and lay the foundation of Wounddock.com- a place where patient confusion is erased and critical moments could be saved by navigating those same patients straight into the hands of doctors so they can do their best work to improve patient outcomes.
